Wendell Anthony, Pastor), wishes to thank those of you who lent your names, email networks, Project-Detroit which took place July 28, 2006 at the Fellowship Chapel church, (ReverendThe Katherine Dunham National Memorial Tribute Committee of the Dunham Legacy provided donations, volunteered your time and/or your talent, purchased ads, gave technical support, poured libations ritual, provided permission from the elders, represented the elders, made program remarks, provided outstanding security along with their staffs, those who ushered, provided rehearsal spaces or media support, designed programs or T-shirts, contributed visual artistry, pre and post-reception planning, provided the amazing facilities for the Tribute, lifted high spiritual energy, continuous prayer and a collective faith, sold T-Shirts and programs, provided production assistance, presented films, videotaped or photographed, or created fabulous costumes on a tight budget.
The community came out in great numbers. There were over 1,200 members of the audience, and about 100 dancers and musicians, including African dancers and drummers, liturgical dancers, Dunham dancers and drummers, and the African stilt-walker who represented the ancestors. There were members of the religious, political and cultural communities, activists, people who were curious, and of course the dance community came out in wonderful support.
We want to especially thank Dr. Lena Weathers and Mr. Eugene Redmond, President and Vice President, respectively, of the Katherine Dunham Center for Arts and Humanities for coming all the way from E. Saint Louis, Illinois. We feel absolutely privileged to have been graced with their presence, as they represented Ms. Dunham, the Dunham Centers , and E. Saint Louis.
We particularly thank the Michigan Chronicle for having faith in us early on, and providing initial front-page coverage announcing an eminently spectacular, national tribute to Ms. Dunham. Subsequent articles delivered the announcement to the broader public.
Finally, the Detroit Dunham Legacy Project Committee was the very best committee that could ever exist. It was amazing to see everyone take on difficult tasks and follow
them through to fruition. What a team! From the Pre-Reception to the Program through to the After Party, everything was elegant, polished and creative. We thank you all!
Absolutely every moment of the program was filled with Spirit. The air was electrified with the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Ms. Dunham and the Kindred Spirits that unite when drummers and dancers meet in conversation.

LIVING THE LEGACY: DUNHAM LEGACY PROJECT
We would like to make an appeal to you that you remain in close contact with us as we approach 2007. Moving forward, the Dunham Legacy Project will establish 1.) An annual tribute in Detroit beginning Summer 2007; and 2.) A nomination for Katherine Dunham to receive the Nobel Peace Prize posthumously.
NOBEL PEACE PRIZE NOMINATION
As a reminder of the announcement from the evening of the tribute, a planning committee is currently researching the process to have Miss Katherine Dunham’s name placed in nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize posthumously.
